Hayley's Story
As a child, I was captivated by the idea of touching a cloud. In my imagination, it was something straight out of the Care Bears, soft, fluffy, and as light as candyfloss. I envisioned running my fingers through its pillowy surface, gathering handfuls of sky like a tangible dream. Of course, I didn’t yet understand that clouds are nothing more than vapor, ephemeral, untouchable, always just out of reach.
My dad, one of my greatest supporters and the man who instilled in me the belief that no dream is too far-fetched, found a way to bring that childhood fantasy to life. He arranged for the two of us to take a hot air balloon ride, a gift that was as much about adventure as it was about love. By then, I understood that I wouldn’t be able to hold a cloud, but the experience of floating through the mist, wrapped in an otherworldly silence, weightless and free, was unforgettable. It felt like stepping into a space where time itself stood still.
My dad's unwavering encouragement shaped the person I am today. He always urged me to work hard for what I believe in, to chase my ambitions no matter how unattainable they might seem. Even after his passing during the COVID pandemic, his words remain with me, guiding me forward. They are the foundation of 'Clouds Safeguarding', a tribute to his spirit and a testament to the dreams he inspired me to pursue.

In Memory Of Dad and Nan.
Over a decade ago, while working in schools, I was involved in a serious case review following the heartbreaking loss of a child due to parental abuse. This tragedy profoundly impacted me, both personally and professionally, strengthening my commitment to safeguarding and the collective responsibility we share in protecting the vulnerable. To honour the memory of that child, we used to release balloons each year, a meaningful tradition that represents remembrance and hope. The very image of these balloons rising into the sky became the focal point of my logo, symbolising renewal, resilience, and the unyielding spirit of safeguarding. The balloon release each year has now been replaced with a release of bubbles to help to protect the environment.
Life’s challenges can often feel overwhelming, clouding our vision and leaving us feeling lost. Yet, just as the sky clears after a storm, so too can our struggles find clarity when we open up, share our thoughts, and seek support. It is through connection and conversation that we regain strength, and slowly, the clouds begin to shift.
Safeguarding is not just a professional duty, but a shared responsibility. It’s about protecting others while also ensuring we care for ourselves. True safeguarding is a balance, nurturing the well-being of those around us, while also protecting our own emotional health. By doing so, we create a safer, more compassionate world for all.
