I also explored the importance of resilience and having a strong support network in turning pain into action, whether through advocacy, creative expression, or helping others. How To Protect & Empower Young People In Your Community
In a recent podcast, I highlighted the importance of a personalised approach to safeguarding, emphasising the need to assess each case individually to address the unique risks and needs of the young person. Moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach ensures more effective and targeted measures.
I also stressed the value of collaboration among schools, safeguarding leads, and external organisations. Strong networks and peer support are vital for sharing insights, maintaining standards, and strengthening safeguarding efforts.
Lastly, I advocated for dynamic, context-specific safeguarding training. Regular, interactive sessions with real-life case studies better prepare staff to respond to the evolving challenges in this critical area.

The Realities Of Grief And The Pandemic
I recently had the opportunity to record a podcast with Marie Grady, where we discussed our grief journeys and the challenges we faced during the pandemic. Our conversation focused on the significance of self-care, healing, and seeking support. We highlighted the importance of vulnerability, emotional expression, and prioritizing mental health, while also emphasizing the need for continuous personal growth.

In episode 5 of the '10 with Zen' podcast, I discuss how we adapted safeguarding during the COVID-19 pandemic. With in-person visits restricted, we worked closely with agencies like GPs, social care, and the voluntary sector to monitor at-risk children. Secure video platforms like Google Meet and Zoom became essential for staying connected with families, ensuring they felt heard and supported.
As schools reopened, we focused on helping educators process their experiences and adjust to students' needs. Our discussion highlighted how adaptability, collaboration, and technology were key to effective safeguarding during this challenging time.
